My name is Krysta Peterson and I am an optimist. In today’s world, I find myself seeking opportunities where individuals can come together to discuss the importance of being present. I am 25 years old (26 in March) and thus far I have lived a life of listening, helping, and understanding what makes people human. I’ve moved over 10 times, lived in 8 states, and cannot fathom staying in one place for too long due to my love of meeting new people. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Art Studio and serving two years with the AmeriCorps VISTA program, I felt that it was time to pursue my passion for understanding the best way that I can help others. I’m currently in graduate school at the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana for Global Youth Development (an accelerated masters international program that has connected me to the Peace Corps). As of right now, my goal is to create an applied art therapy program for individuals who are experiencing emotional turmoil, children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, as well as the elderly population. I am quite young on my quest of profession, but I am intrigued in the ways that our subconscious can connect to our experiences through the production of art and music. I believe that creative expression can act as a conduit for communication between cultures and individuals of every walk of life.
In this space I will share thoughts, stories, adventures, photographs, drawings, poems, songs, and more. I encourage anyone else who stumbles upon this to contribute to the discovery of what it truly means to be a human being in today’s world. If there is enough interest, I would like to create a collaborative space where I will publish others’ stories, reflections, and discoveries of how they perceive the world. The goal here is connection, exploration, and solution to the ways we as individuals can contribute to the present moment on a more than sedentary level.
Furthermore, I am on a quest of understanding the cadence of today’s society. Bare with me as I create this space for reflection on how we as individuals can connect and share a commentary of the exploration of compassion and love through our union with others. This is my first attempt at creating a website and any suggestions will be very much appreciated!
Thank you for your initial curiosity on what I have to say. Curiosity is our greatest gift and the more we foster its growth, the more tolerance and acceptance we will have for our brothers and sisters.
Question: How can you impact the world around you on a daily basis?
Task for the next week: Exchange smiles with those that you pass on the street.
Until next time, with love,
Krysta
