Thank you to all who have spent a few moments checking this out and shown interest in what I have to say! I’m beginning to think that this will be a weekly post for the time being. There are a lot of global movements happening right now and for one to reflect on them daily brings a certain heaviness to one’s energy. Another reason why this journal of exploration will prove to be fruitful.
In the past couple of days, I’ve found myself stuck in this trance of confusion and the inability to focus. My sister said the Mercury Retrograde could be the reason for this ebb and flow of energy, I agree to some extent. Part of my trance can be attributed to the ongoing foray of the tyrannical media infiltrating the airwaves. It’s easier to say that you don’t have to let it affect you than to not have your chest tighten when you hear a separation of states about gun control or the prison system. How have we arrived in such a state of apathy? How have we arrived at this catastrophic ignorance that may possibly create a resistance to epistemology and the unfolding of learning love? My heart beats louder, reaching out to others who believe that the only saving grace is the status quo.
This, my friends, is the tip of the ice berg of what we as civically engaged and passionate individuals have control over. It is rather simple to continue with the way things have been by considering the magnitude of what needs to change; after all, it is quite daunting! However, we are the vehicles of communication and have the ability to choose the avenue in which we lead this conversation of change. It’s not easy, either. We are born into a society that attempts to direct our focus or rather, distract our focus in ways that constrict our creative and unique messages.
A reflective poem on the difficulties of focus in times of turbulence:
How many times must this pretend to go away?
Here appears a new strength, a lovely, beautiful muse.
I watch it cascade all around me.
How I’d love to stay forever and watch the movement.
It’s as if I were engulfed by an evening’s fog,
Gone with the change of the wind.
Please stay long enough for me to truly understand?
The shadow of yesterday’s ruse shows why staying is not an option.
There are possibilities unknown to be explored;
For the muse to stay longer would only distort what is pure,
What is the newness of time, of existence.
May I see you again, lovely muse?
It is when you’re near that I listen best.
It is your enveloping nature that helps me understand.
Without your caressing hand, I know not what I love nor how I feel.
Your absence makes the air still and the waking life dull.
Yet at the passing breath of another, you must go.
I will wait for your imminent return as I fill your void with synthetic matter.
That will have to do.
Question for the week: How do you keep your passions or focus in your daily life given all of the opportunities of distraction in today’s world? In other words, how do you stay present?
Task for the week: Continue to smile at those that you pass on the street. Extra Credit: Say hello, or a statement involving positivity. example: “The sun feels good!” “Have a great day!” etc.
Remember to send me your reflections, too!! I want this to be as collaborative as possible. Pictures, statements, paintings, poems, songs, stories… anything that you’d like to share!! I’ve enabled the comment feature so you should be able to comment regardless of having a wordpress account 🙂
Until next time, with love,
Krysta

Thanks, Marty! Would you be interested in putting something together for this? Maybe a song or a poem or anything that reflects the change that you see necessary in our world? Let me know what you think or if you already have something in mind, I can put it up right away 🙂
